Could anybody tell me what the difference is between a Model 70 XTR featherweight and a Model 70 Classic Featherweight? The caliber is .270 but shouldn't make any difference.

The Classic series is the current production, using the new-old action. The Classic action has the controlled-round feeding, claw extractor and fixed ejector similar to the pre-64 guns. The XTR Featherweight should be late 80's-early 90's production with a push-feed action.

I have found the barrel of the xtr to be freefloating and the classic bedded. Is this typical?
