OK. I have checked out the sticky but have a couple of other questions. Maybe they were addressed there & I just missed them. I, a non-FFL holder wants to ship a rifle to a FFL in another state. I understand that I can do this using the USPS. Yes, no markings about what's in the box but what do I do when the clerk asks about dangerous & etc contents? Do I say it's a rifle? How do they know I'm sending it to a FFL holder?

Thanks guys. Nothing is easy for jeff anymore!

Can a rifle be shipped from NY to CA? I've looked and it doesn't specify a State. Just as long as it goes to a FFL?

I'm sorry to dwell on this subject but I'm new at selling on GunBroker and am frustrated to learn all carriers (FedEx & UPS) plus US Post Office, have policy rules expressly stating they will not ship a firearm from a private owner of the item to a FFL licensee. Only from licensee to licensee. The big problem seems to be declaring what's in the package. Someone suggested to note "firearm for repair" but I see problems with that too. What do you other private guys w/o a FFL license put on the form. If this is top secret write me @ HdErv1@aol.com. Where there's a will there has to be a way! I agree FedEx is better to deal with to man, the expence to the buyer sucks!
    Thanks

I have always found the best way to ship firearms is by using UPS. The legalities are that it must be sent to a licenced FFL dealer if the firearm is to be sold to an individual and then the individual picks it up (usually for a fee) from the dealer. If you are sending your gun for repair, there is no restriction, usually. Handguns may be another matter......I am not up on the laws governing handguns. Make sure you insure your firearms when shipping.

It's legal for an individual to ship a gun to an FFL holder for purpose of repair, but if it's a sale(or what-not),the firearm must be shipped from an FFL holder to an FFL holder.
