Last summer in my travels to Colorado ( I live in Texas, and what a pain in the butt it was to get it here ) I purchased a NIB in 100% condition Colt Official Police serial number 9256xx. My question is, what is the difference in the two models and when was mine made? I paid $350 for it, plus several extra dollars to get it here. Did I make a good purchase?

I can't give you much technical advice but in my opinion you are better off with the official police than the Police positive. The Op has a larger frame. I have a OP but have fired both and the OP has a better trigger pull and just seems smoother to me. Some say it is similar inside to a python. I don't know if I would go that far but you can do a lot with the Op that you can't do with a PP. Good Luck.
