Turk Mauser won't extract properly

Just bought a Turk Mauser and took to the range today. I had a little problem with shells not extracting properly. The extractor pulls the case out correctly, but the shell doesn't expell out of the chamber. The bolt just pulls it straight back. I had to use my thumb to flick the case out. Other than this, the rifle shot and functioned just fine. Any suggestions?

Sounds like you have an ejector problem, not an extractor problem. Look inside the back left side of the reciever. There should be an arm under spring tension that closes when the bolt closes and opens when the bolt opens to eject the empties. It and its spring are housed in a little doodad on the outside left reciever wall, with a slot milled in the reciever to allow the ejector pin to work. See if the pin is broken/missing, or if the spring is weak. If you need a new one, they are fairly easy to install; www.gunpartscorp.com

There is a Mauser forum @ milsurpshooter.net Sounds like your ejector is worn. Page 3&10 contain threads that deal with this problem. I hope this is OK with admin..

Ejectors do wear but I've found that dirt, cosmoline, and crud in general are usually the culprit. Remove bolt---remove bolt stop lever. Ejector comes out with it. clean inside thourghly and lightly oil.

Thanks for the info. I took it off today and compared it to my VZ 24. The tip has broken off. I'll have to replace it. Thanks again guys!
