Well guys and dolls I took some of my X-Mas money and treated myself to a Mini 14 Ranch Stainless, the price was great and the money was burning a hole in my pocket So now I'm thinking about topping it off with a scope, any Suggestions from anyone using the same animal would be helpful. It will be used mostly as an all around gun, plinking, a coyote here and there but not a replacement for my 22-250Thanks in advanceBill

I've put a Burris 3-9x Compact on a Mini-14 and found it was just the right size. Right now I have a Mini-30 wearing a Weaver V9 and that, too, is a great combo. Just keep the scope size relative to the rifle and things will look and work right.Oh, the Butler Creek flip up scope caps are perfect on the Minis. Shoulder the rifle, your fingers are in the right position to flip the caps, which snap open. Then shoot. A 3-9x is a very useful scope for the Mini-14 and -30, given their useable ranges. I really like the Weaver, but if you/ve got the cash, the Burris is really a step up in optical clarity. Natchez Shooters Supply (another post) is selling Burris refurbished scopes. Same scope, but it's been gone through by a technician, made right, and they sell at a good discount.
