How do you fix noisy swivels

Anyone have any idea if there is anyway I can tighten up a swivel. The one swivel moves, but has a stiffness(normal) while the other one just rattles around. Is there anything I can do short of getting new swivels?

    you might try a c clamp from the sides, they usually tighten up on the quick release part, if not, they're cheap, I use bar soap or candle wax to quiet them down, and to lube my zipper, and all for kinds of other stuff, will fix a bolt that is rough feeling as well

    Peening with a punch and hammer always works, but leaves a mark.

    Well in the Corps, we just tape ours with medical tape, and color it black. Personally though, I just tighten mine all the way up, and it doesnt squeak enough to bother me, and if it does it while you have it over a shoulder, you're not looking to sneak up on anything anyway, you know? Come to think of it, I never use my sling for carrying, so its usually just tight, cause I usually shoot from a decent rest, dont use the sling in the offhand much when hunting.

    I always use electrical tape on swivels during deer season to quiten and keep them from clicking against the stock.

    Butler Creek stopped making a nice product to quiet the swivels--it was a little rubber "cap" that slid over/on the swivel; I guess they figured with the Uncle Mikes Quiet swivels (same company) it was a redundant product.If anyone has a card or two of the old Butler Creek rubber "caps" to quiet swivels (there were six or eight bubble-wrapped on the card) please email me.Joecompetentone@hotmail.com[This message has been edited by competentone (edited 12-31-2001).]
