I recently purchased a S & W Model 10 -6 with a 4" barrel. It has the following number on the butt of the handle "D684765". Can anyone help me determine the date of the revolver? Thanks,David

David,The 10-6 was build between 1962 and 1977. The "D" prefix indicates it was made somewhere between 1967 ("D1" was made in 1967) and 1977, when the 10-7 came out. The serial number of your revolver puts it toward the end of the 10-6s. Sorry I can't be more specific. The information above is from the "Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson" by Jim Supica and Richard Nahas.
