Fixing a shorteded stock

I've got an old shotgun that someone cut off the stock to shade less than 13" behind the trigger. Closer to 14" would fit me better. Seems like the best option at this point is to add a recoil pad to make up the difference. What is a reasonable price range to have this sort of work professionally done by a gunsmith. This is just an old hunter not an heirloom.

Yes, a thick recoil pad sounds like the most practical solution. Expect to pay $35-$50 for the work, plus the price of the pad, for a professional job. If appearance is not that important you have the option of purchasing a pad and installing it yourself.

A used stock per rembrandt is the best permanent way out. In a pinch? Maybe try a slip-on recoil pad/boot combo. Look like hell but they are functional.
