I own a ruger pc9 9mm carbine. I wanted to buy a 30 round mag for it and I saw a lot of aftermarket mags that fit any of the ruger 9mm's. Does anybody know which ones work the best.

Hey how do you like your ruger? I was thinking about getting one of them or a hi-point. I know the rugers cost more but i have heard good things about both. To help answer you question i would stay away from pro mags and usa mags, i found they don't work very well but there ok for pratice.

Rob3448, you might consider a Marlin Camp 9 Carbine (used) as an alternative to a PC9. I have both, each has + and - points. The PC9 is rugged. The trigger needs a long pull. I like the trigger on the Marlin better. The Marlin looks more like a sporting rifle and it disassembles easier for cleaning. The Marlin doesn't have a locking breech, which is good and bad. Bad because the action gets dirty when you fire, good because it makes the action mechanically simple. The Marlin uses S&W mags. Both the Marlin and PC9 shoot well out to about 100 yards. If you need to go beyond that, you need something else. Both Marlin and Ruger stand behind their products.I have heard some good things about the Kel-Tec Sub-2000 folding carbine, but it is still too new to know how well it will hold up with time and use. I have an itch to get one, though. For me, the Hi-Point is not an option. It looks cheap. I have heard that the latest production models are built better than the early ones. Also, every time I see one I think of Columbine. I know that's irrational. The Ruger and Marlin have both probably been misused at some time by bad guys as well, just not as notoriously.[This message has been edited by Gordian Blade (edited 02-05-2002).]

We still aren't telling poor garandfan what high-capacity magazines to use with a PC9. Bill Ruger told me that an honest man doesn't need more than 10 rounds in any gun, so all I have for my PC9 are 3 factory Ruger 10 rd mags. Looking at the action of the PC9, I would be surprised if it is as finicky with mags as a pistol. The one problem I know about is using Wolf 9mm ammo. Wolf 9mm Luger have pointy noses on them and are longer than other types of 9mm Luger. This can cause excessive friction during rapid feeding when the bullet noses drag against the front wall in some high-capacity magazines. Despite this, I've fired a couple hundred rounds of Wolf through my PC9 in 10 rd mags with no problems. If I wanted to get a high-capacity magazine for my PC9, I would just buy one with a money-back guarantee and try it with non-Wolf ammo. If it worked, I'd buy a couple more of the same brand.

I went back through some private email correspondence from someone who owns both the PC9 and the Marlin Camp 9. He recommends Triple K mags but stay away from USA.
