What is a Mounting block (trunnion)?

I am considering converting my Chinese Mak 90 over to legally have a pistol grip. Section 922 lists "Mounting blocks (trunnions)" as a foreign part on their list of 20 foreign parts that are counted. What is a trunnion? Thanks.

Isn't that a device with a pin or other connector on it that allows a firearm to be mounted on a tripod, or fixed mount, such as on a tank or APC, or your favorate SUV?
