Remington Semi-Auto Rifles

I have heard that some of the semi-auto Remington rifles are troublesome. I read on another post that the 742s had problems but the 7400s should be okay. Where does the model Four fit in? Does it have the problems or did they have the kinks worked out when it was made? The model four I'm looking at is a 7mm Express Rem. Curious as to why they didn't just call it a 280.Any opinions on the model four, good or bad, would be appreciated as I'm in the process of trying to make up my mind if I want to buy this gun. The price is fair and the gun looks to be in great condition but I don't want to buy a known troublemaker. The guy said I could shoot it before I buy it and I plan on it but I wanted to get a little more information about the gun so I will know what to look for when I try it out.

My dad has a 742 in 30-06 it's haas always work fine for him and he had it since he was a kid, the only problem he ever had was when he tried using a eagle 10 round plastic mag the the gun then he said it would jam all the time.

The Model Four is just a fancy version of the 7400 and should give you no troubles. Remington messed around with the name of the 280 changing it to 7mm Express (which only confused people when buying proper ammo) and back to 280 where it should have stayed.
