Spring Creek....do you have any of the high grade models? I've got a Renaissance and wondered if the Louis XIV is as nice?

Rembrant,No I don't have any high grades, except for the Centennial model, at the present time.I've owned both the Renaissance and King Louis XVI at one time, before I decided to concentrate on standard models and military issue (Nazi, Inglis, Finland, Belgium, etc.). Which as I get more involved, are costing more then the Renaissance.It's hard to know where to stop and expensive (above my means)to try to have them all.But as to your question, the Renaissance in my estimation is far superior in engraving (esp. the older "coin" finish)and overall quality-when compared to the King Louis XVI.Even considering the higher price of the Ren., I would hold out for it in place of the Louie.Either would look nice in any collection

Spring Creek....Thanks for the information, I've never seen a King Louis XVI except for pictures, it looked nice but the engraving didn't appear to be deeply cut...more like etched. One High Power variation I would like to get was recently listed in Shotgun News....NIB Capitan made in Belgium with the shoulder stock slot milled in the grip..Guess there was a limited supply...I waited too long....

Rembrandt,As a member of the BCA (Browning Collectors Association) I did hear about them, quite early and ordered one, through Vector Arms. The 511 prefix with the magazine eject assist is "neat", that is true.They are of "Belgium" quality, for sure.One thing that I was not aware of, as anybody I talk to wasn't either. That the milled/slotted backstrap, although nicely done--is not to the same specs as previous slotted Hi-Powers ie. Inglis, Nazi, Belgium, etc.; therefore there is no stock in existence that will fit it. This probably will keep people out of trouble with BATF, who might have tried other Hi-Power stocks(As though a stock on a 9mm was ever practical, other than for show). I always thought with the trajectory of a 9mm--500 and some 1000 meter tangent sights were a little more than wishful thinking.Anyway, if the Denmark contract for the pistols would have gone through--stocks with new mounting iron to match the new slots, were to have been produced. So looks like this "mating" might never happen.
