I was hoping someone could explain to me how the TDS range finding device works in the scopes. Thanks

If this is the ladder reticle or what is sometimes called the Christmas tree reticle it has no "range finding" capability. My 10x by 42mm Swarovsi is calibrated for the 50 BMG M33 ball bullet and I'm pretty sure the steps on the reticle go from 600 to 1800 meters (it's in the safe). You figure out the range using whatever methods you have at hand - and then select the correct step on the reticle for that range - the steps on my scope are marked with ranging info.Didn't you ask this question once before? Have you considered asking Swarovski and seeing what they say? I think they make - or used to make - a scope with a laser range finder built in but it's not the TDS reticle.

Reticle as described by Rick is made only for Barret by Swarovski. Are you describing the reticle used in the ZF series scopes?

I should think if they are not interested enough in selling their product to answer your questions that should tell you everything you need to know about buying one.

Just a follow up on your ?? since no reply to the ZF series.Swar has two reticles, ZF (common), and the "new" TDS, which is pretty accurate, but there are better systems available IMHO.It is bullet/cartridge specific, matching ballistics to charts, must spend range time to use correctly, and fast. Must know target size(s).It is the 'ladder' style. After you zero,,and select scale, you range covering the center, and lower line marks. You divide the # of lines into the target size. That gives approx range. Then raise the rifle to the lower line(distance mark) that matchs the distance. It also has guesstimate windage marks, if you learn how to guesstimate for hold off.All in all, it works, and is pretty accurate, but you must spend quality time learning how to work with it, like many other reticles.
