Can't find any info. on this scope and would like to know if it is for high power rifles - will it stand 45/70 recoil on my Ruger #1? It is marked Weaver Marksman 4x USA (not K4) Thanks,Dave

Dave as far as I can tell there were three Weaver "Marksman" scopes in 4x. The model M1 Marksman, the M1-SF-TO both made 1981-1983. There also the M34 (and an M34W-a wideangle version) made 1981-1983. They were apparently built for center fires. I have no experience with any of them, but the M34's are valued at around $15-$25 and the M1's at around $25-$50, so you really don't have that much to loose in trying it. On the other hand, if you want to spend some bucks, you can surely buy a scope these days with much higher quality coatings for that #1. Have fun either way!

Thanks for the info. I put it on the #1 because it was the only one available that had enough eye relief for the gun. I have sighted it in and was supprised at the optics - very clear & sharp - no problem seeing 45 holes at 100yds. Guess I'll leave it on for now. Thanks again!

Glad it worked. For their age and price a lot of the old Weavers were surprisingly good scopes. I have several that are not up to the standards of todays optics, but are still very servicable and clear.
