I found a 1915 Kar98 8mm when I stopped by the local gunshop today. I don't know much about them so if anyone can give me details that would be great. What identifying marks to look for and such. The gun was in pretty good condition. Stock was real nice. Plenty of bluing on the metal and didn't appear to be any real visible rust. Riflings were so so. When I pulled the bolt back it seem to have a little side-to-side play in it when it was all the way back. The guy who has it for sale is a gunsmith that I know pretty well. Usually everything like this he takes them completely apart and does a very thorough cleaning. He said he tightened up the barrel. He might have mentioned something about the receiver being shorter than the standard type of mauser. Not really sure if that's what he said though. I usually kick myself for not buying some of the stuff he has because he usually doesn't sell it if it's not a nice piece. He wanted $200 for it. Is this a good price or do you guys need more information?GL
