CHECK THE LAST ISSUE OF WILDFOWL MAG. MR BREEZY AND I AGREE. THE BEST IS THE 835 MOSSBERG 24 INCH BARREL PORTED. UNDER $300.00 GET ONE AND ENJOY. I HAVE TRIED ALL THE REST. BRW, WINCHESTER, BENELLI, REMINGTON. ITHACA. NOTHING WILL DO THE JOB DAY IN DAY OUT WITH LESS PROBLEMS THAN THE 835. BE SAFE. JOHN

I have 3 835's and cant say enough good things about them. I also have 2 extra rully rifeld slug barrels and let me say they will sure do a number on whitetails. For the money you will not find a better workhorse than the 835.ThE Nut

I agree, 835s are probaly the low end best choice with the parameters you have listed. Winchester super x 2 would be at the top of your price range. If you choose a semi auto expect the gun to have difficulty cycling light "2 3/4 shells. (At least at this current time, until engineering remedies this problem.) I must make one comment that I purchased a Benelli Nova 1 year ago and was displeased not only with the performance, but also with the gun overall,(rattling slide, barrel sticking during cleaning break down, having to purchase a pricy recoil reducer that fit into the "hollow" stock-(c'mon maybe there would be less felt recoil if the stock was solid-or at least your fillings wouldn't fall out of your teeth when you used 3.5" shells. Oh well I thought I'd throw that personal experience in. Just my opinions.

I would not consider the 835 "low end" except maybe the price. The 835 will hold its own with any shotgun on the market today at any price. Adding price in the mix nothing even comes close, the machine just plain works. Lets Compare835 Ulti-Mag Ported $225.00Rem. 870 Super Mag $320.00Ben. Nova 12ga $329.00Browning BPS 3.5 $400.00Winchester do they even offer a 3.5 pump?
