The evil Black Talon aside, what is your favorite 9mm ammo? I have a KP89, a HS 2000, and a Hi Point 995.Thanks,

Jeff I used to use Hydra Shocks in my 9mm carry but have changed to RBCD. In 9mm it is a 60gr bullet at 2010fps and 539fpe. It blows a water filled gallon jug to pieces, and I can only guess what it will do to a bad guy. You can check them out at www.rbcd.net.

I have a box of Hornady Custom JHP, 115 gr. for "what if", but I haven't shot any of it. I use less expensive FMJ for practice. Any opinions about Hornady?

Badboybob has it right. You really need to check out the RBCD. This ammo is mfg. in San Antonio, Texas and is absolutely the best, most powerful ammo I've ever used. If you're going to carry, carry the best. Your life WILL depend on it. Tideman

Favorite: Corbon 115 gr. +PTry it at night, and you'll see the beauty of a powder blend with minimal muzzle flash.[This message has been edited by competentone (edited 02-10-2002).]

Winchester 357 Magnum 180 gr. Supreme Partition Gold until I find 357 Black Talons at a reasonable price. I use these in a Ruger SP-101 3" barrel. Still carry Black Talons in my Niner.

Have never checked it out on anything, but have read some on it, I have some of the Hertenburger 100 gr soft point. Does about 1500+ fps. I alternate this with Hydrashok.

I hate to walk down the road of "legal-ese" but important points were made in the previously locked thread. I use a 12-gauge shotgun with light target loads for home defense because I live in an apartment. However, I also have a S&W 686 loaded with Winchester 357 Magnum 180 gr. Supreme Partition Gold. One is a target load and the other is a hunting round. Both have legitimate "sporting" purposes and both are excellent for home defense. I used to have a 9mm pistol that I used for concealed carry when I lived in state where I could get one. That was loaded with Winchester SXT's or Winchester Silvertips depending on which magazine I grabbed. I have read into some of the legal mumbo-jumbo surrounding use of deadly force and have found it safest to go with what the local cops carry or with a hunting round. You can always say "I'm a hunter or a sport shooter and it just happened to be the ammo that was most accessable at the time." Hunting ammo is designed to kill effectively. What is good for one animal is good for another IMHO.

I have Glasers, followed by Silvertips, the Federal FMJ. The logic being should a miss or misses occur, then being able to penetrate cover such as furniture, etc. exists.
