I will tell you what I know about it and it isn't much. I am throughly confused. I have only found a couple references to the name. It is marked HEMBRUG 1915 on the side of the receiver. On the left side of the buttstock it has a cartouche that is HEMBRUG 1916 and a "W" with a crown above it. all parts and stock have the same matching number (4013V). was told it was a 6.5 x 55 swedish. Is this correct? I found some references to a couple swedish mausers, a 96 and a 98 I think. it looked like it but did not have the brass disk in the buttstock. I think it may have been cutoff just ahead of the last sling swivel about 6 in. The barrel measures about 23" and the rifle is 42.5" overall. The rear sight goes out to 2000 meters. There is no bayonet lug on this and the cleaning rod is missing. This rifle appears to take stripper clips. There is a hole through the magazine well about 1.5" long. Can this shoot without stripper clips other than one at a time? If it has to have stripper clips where can I locate some for this rifle and what should I expect to pay? I only gave $100 for the rifle and it appears to be a well built rifle. I heard the 6.5 was a good round. Thanks ahead of time.
I spent all my money on guns, women, and beer. The rest I just wasted.wiredog70@hotmail.com

Wiredog, I believe you have a DUTCH rifle. I have a 6.5 dutch but it has STEYER on the receiver but the bayonet has HEMBURG on the blade. I believe Jonk has one also and he will probably be by and tell you all you need to know. Lots of luck on the ammo and clips!! Tom

Yes indeed, you have a Dutch Mannlicher in 6.5X53R Dutch. It does take a clip. Ammo is a bit hard to find, but it is out there. I know www.empirearms.com has some with clips. www.ows-ammunition also has it, new manufacture. For $100 you did very well. It has been my experience these guns are quite accurate. If you handload, brass is easily enough formed from .303 brit or 30/40 Krag and a standard 6.5 bullet can be used, though many of these guns have bores somewhat larger than the standard .264 for 6.5mm, and you should slug your bore to find the exact size. Email at endofwork@msn.com and I will answer any questions to the best of my ability.

Hembrug, by the way, is the main Dutch arsenal, I had to do a search to figure that out. The crown over the W signifies Wilhelmina, I believe. This gun is not listed under mausers, I dont believe its classified as one. I only have the mauser book, sorry not to be of more help.
