m1 carbine value

Was just wondering the value of a winchester m1,bought new in the 1950's by a police department where it saw little use, then stayed in my family.I think it was manufactured in 43 or 44,it wasnt mil issue (i think?) because it was in new condition and the stock didnt have any ordance markings or anything.Condition when last handled was 90%+,bright bores, wood didnt have any dings or scratches. The only wear on the metal was the bolt from being fired.Gun was 'lost' when a certain family member decided drugs were more important.I really need to replace that gun,it was always one of my favorite rifles to shoot. Thanks - Rob

I am trying to determine the value of an M-1 carbine that I have. Condition is fair to good. Here is some information I found on the rifle.

    On the barrel-
    Inland MFG Div
    General Motors
    8-44

    On the receiver-
    IRCO
    716XXXX

    Behind the rear sight-
    Inland Division
    546XXXX

It has the ordinance wheel with crossed cannons stamp on the stock. You can make it out in one of the photos.

As far as I know, it is all original.

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated. I am considering unloading this, but don't want to give it away.

I don't know how to upload photos here, but they can be seen on another forum at:

    Thanks a bunch!

It was WWII military surplus that was most likely given to the police department by the federal government. It was probably arsenal rebuilt at least once. I would expect to pay in the $450-550 range for a replacement.
