Funny...when I show up at the range with my $350.00 1903A3, which I bought at a gun show, and did absolutely nothing to except re-finish the furniture, and outshoot all those boys with the fancy $2000.00 target rifles, they all ask the same thing- "How much money did you have to spend on that relic to make it shoot that well?"

Interesting thing about guns. You don't always get more bang for the buck. And the guys that spend big money for target weapons always laugh at the great 50-year-old designs, which always have the same message: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

    Every fall before deer hunting our group goes to the range to sight in our rifles. They lad's all have modern high-powered rifles (.270, .308, 30.06, .300 etc) with top of the line scopes and every other contraption you can think of. They all take turns using sand bags and the bench and get great groupings at 100 yards. Then it's my turn. I pull out my trusty old SMLE Mark III .303, with full military stock, and from a standing position can match their groupings. It drives the young lad's nuts, but at 100 yards this rifle shoots straight as an arrow. Oh yea she only cost me $75.00(CAD) a few years back. Maybe someday I'll upgrade to a more modern Mark IV.

    My gunclub has a military rifle match just the thing for you guys. Bring any military rifle, anything, sks, ar, ak, mausers, anything military, and shoot against yourself.

    I haven't tried it yet, but I've got all I need to go, just have to get up early enough to attend.

    I just wish I had a dollar for every gun I wanted, then I'd be a rich man.
