I think this was mentioned before. (I have a Good Memory, but it's Short). What grease do you use on your slide? I was thinking of White Grease (Lithium or Cam grease). What is your choice or do you use oil?

If by slide you mean automatic pistol I have been using oil. But recently I've started using Lubriplate on most of my guns and so far I'm satisfied with it.

For stainless, I use RIG lub.

Yes, I do mean Auto Pistol. I'm worried about grease gumming up.

Tetra-Gun has a light, fluorocarbon, synthetic lube in a tube... It works great, not affected by temperature and doesn't gum up...

Tetra-gun, just a touch does the job.

Tetra-Gun grease works very well. They also have an oil that works. Grease is a little less messy for me to apply, so that's what I use. It works great.

Go lightly or you will get it in your face and eyes.

As an adder to the above, that grease is also great for pump and semi-auto shotgun action.... I always use it when I reassemble one...

I only use greese if I'm packup up a gun for storage. Especially on an auto gun, I like to use a light film of MPro& Ultimate Lube on all friction bearing surfaces. I usually apply with a q-tip, making sure to have a nice film surface.

I just wish I had a dollar for every gun I wanted, then I'd be a rich man.

I've been using Rem Oil since day one. Can be bought anywhere. When I had my Colt worked on I asked the smith what he recommended. His answer was something to the effect of it doesn't matter and he sort of jokingly refered to the tendency to hype a new product's magical ability.

I really recommend that you field strip your self-defense gun and relubricate the slide perhaps once or twice a month. It probably doesn't need it, but if you need the gun, you won't have to wonder about it. If you are in a rush, unload the gun, lock the slide back and put a drop or two on the rails and then reload after releasing the slide.
