the stock on the ak47 is too short. who makes a good stock/grip combo that fits the romanian sar1?

If it bleeds we can kill it.

Ironwood Designs says they have extended length stocks available, up to 11 1/4" pull.

Try the compustock it is made of black fiberglass. Its very easy to install without a gun smith. It should drop right in as long as you specify your weapon when ordering. I think it adds a more combat look and is lighter than wood. I am 6"5 and long armed I added the one inch recoil pad to make it longer, and now it fits great. You can buy the fiber force stock from many retailers if you have any trouble finding one go to sportsman guide at 1-800-888-3006. I hope this helps.

    Good Luck.

If you're handy with wood you can make an extension.

I added about three inches to my SAR-1 using 1-inch thick plywood (two pieces glued together) cut in such a way that I could then fit a Butler Creek (small size) slip-on recoil pad. The added wood is just held in place with long screws where the metal buttplate screws were--I just left the metal buttplate in place.

I don't feel all "bunched-up" when I shoot it now! How does that (wasn't it) 1970's song go: "Short people got no reason..."
