300 for 264

I am thinking about trading my Browning A-Bolt Composite Stalker with BOSS in 300 Winchester Mag for a Winchester model 70 LT Sporter in 264 Winchester Mag even trade. The LT is NIB bolt never installed in it. All I use my 300 for is whitetail, and it is too much lead to throw at a whitetail. Also I can't stand the noise the BOSS makes. I have shot a Remington model 700 classic in 264 and it recoiled way less than the 300 with my 190 grain handloads even with the BOSS. Do you guys say this is a pretty even trade.

I wouldn't, I'd keep the rifle you have for hunting elk or large game, and then get something along the lines of a .260rem or 7mm-08 for hunting whitetale with low reciol.

I just wish I had a dollar for every gun I wanted, then I'd be a rich man.

I'd keep the gun you have. If you do trade for the .264 make sure you use the 140 gr bullet. The factory 100 gr bullet ruins too much meat on deer size animals.

What really matters is they are both good rifles, and good calibers. Your prefrance is the most important thing. The .264 is suitable for long range varmit Hunting as well as putting That venison in the Refrigerator. Im sure it is much more pleasant to shoot if recoil is a problem. Plus ammo is cheaper as well. Hope this helps.

    Good Luck.

If you want less recoil and noise, then make the trade. You will forget about the other gun quickly if the new one is more to your comfort level and you won't regret it.

From a monetary standpoint, the NIB model 70 is worth more than the a-bolt simply because it is NIB and the a-bolt (no matter how well cared for) is still used.

A great rifle with a junk scope,....is junk.

JustC has it right. Make the trade if it gets you a new rifle you want for a rifle you no longer want, provided you will really have no use for the .300 for elk etc.
