glaser

I have been told by people selling glaser at gun shows that
the ammunition will become very inaccurate after a short distance
from the muzzle. Has any of you, tested it and found it accurate
or inaccurate at say 15 yds.

I've fired a good bit of Glaser--most of it 9mm; some in carbines--never seen on "accuracy problems". It acts just like a solid bullet til impact--then it fragments.

Overall, I'd say it's never been the "most accurate" round in any particular gun. (My personal experience: Corbon has normally given me the "best accuracy" overall.)

The bullets are lighter than the more common weights used in traditional loads, so I'd guess it would be more susceptable to cross-winds.

My only complaint with Glaser's is the muzzle flash when firing in the dark/low-light. I wish they'd get together with Corbon and learn how Corbon controls the flash with their special powder blends.

The muzzle flash is the main reason I don't use the Glaser's in my personal defense guns.

If you like the idea of glasers for home defence....check out Magsafe rounds...they are still "swat" loads with the same safty features, but they have a higher energy transfer and a more destructive wound channel. A close second choice for my gun are the Corbon +P hollow points.

They sure advertise great, but none of the police departments or tactical teams around here use them. As matter of fact the county uses Federal Tactical HP ammo for its swat team, because it will shoot thru car glass from what I'm told.

I just wish I had a dollar for every gun I wanted, then I'd be a rich man.

Thanks for the input. I am at the point where I can
get about a 4 inch group at 15 yds with my 40 cal Kahr, and
    my own lead reloads.
Would the glaser deliver that same group you think?

Hey you think Glaser is expensive. I got this stuff that came with a new used gun I bought. I think it was called magsafe or something like that. It cost $20 for 5rds of .38spl +P.... $4 a shot. Its a copper HP case filled with copper BB's that are polyresined in place. Looks wicked, but I don't have the money to shoot it.
