I have a revolver on the grips it has "RG" on each side on the side it is stamped.

"Mod. RG23 Cal.22LR RG IND. MIAMI, FLA."

It is black and has fake wood grips (plastic)
As far as I know it is pretty old
If you have any info on this gun, its maker, or its age please let me know.

Thanks, Don

RG Industries manufactured and imported low quality handguns in the 1970's and 1980's. They were the "Saturday night specials" of their time.

Fire it at your own risk (and the risk of those standing next to you). Do not depend upon it for protection. Take advantage of any gun buy back program in your area.

"RG" MEANS ROTTEN GUN. TURN IT IT ON THE FIRST 'BUY-BACK" AND GET A RUGER.

I tend to believe that the RG guns all ceased to be imported because of the Gun Control Act of 1968. They were probably the poorest quality guns I have ever seen. It is more likely that they would fail to function or spit lead from the side than blow up. The double action went first, then the timeing, next you could only fire it by
hand turning the cylinder & using your thumb to pull back the hammer & release it and finaly the mainspring would break. All this is only a few hundred rounds. There were better made cap pistols on the market.

My grandmother has one of those. Its a cheap little gun. Wouldn't even make a good troutline anchor. They are saturday night specials. I wouldn't fire anything other than blanks thru it.

I warn you that those guns are not safe to shoot. I know the one my grandmother has the cylinder does not properly line up with the barrel, and it's never even been shot that I know of, in excellent condition. It hasn't been mistreated or anything, thats just the way it came. And if someone were to fire a round out of it, then they might end up loosing a hand, or at least having the crap scared out of them.

I might also note, that my grandmother isn't going to be shooting it, she has some little .22shrt blank caps in it to scare off a bugler. I've tried to convince her into taking a real gun, offered her plenty, but she refused, and I guess thats her prerogative.

I just wish I had a dollar for every gun I wanted, then I'd be a rich man.

They are junk and there are plenty of them around so they will never be worth more than a few bucks.

Yes , these are (were) the elcheapos of the day (70's), they went under some legal problems , ect...we do still a fair number of these,
mostly as "fishing" (tackle box) type guns, really ahte to try &"smith"
on them , mostly not worth the effort, but we always are in the market to buy them , we do have customers who want them ???? I think
that there may even be one in my big tackle box at this time ???

I'd say going price would be in the $25-35 range, maily as a collectors item. (People actually do have collections of saturday night specials.)

Would you guys agree with that price?

I think the price should be 25 to 35. cents
Drop it in a dirty lake and see how long it takes
    to sink.

I saw an RG a few year ago that had never been fired. The firing pin was dragging across the back of the cartridges in the chamber and you could see the marks across the primers.

    Junk.

Just got another new book last night from BooksAMillion. Handguns Illustraded. Looking at his RG right now. Along with every other RG ever made. Didn't realize they made so many models.
