win. 101 pigeon grade 12ga, 30+years old wood finish is very good but afew deep scratches on stock minior rust spots on reciver eazy to polish off barrels are in bad shape deep pits all over gun has little use was put in case and put away for 20 yrs. a gunsmith i know can make look ok. what is a 101 in this condition worth???

    I don't think the pigeon grade was made til 1974, so it shouldn't be over 27 years old if it was a first year model. Hard to give an exact figure on price without seeing the gun but I would guess around $1000.With the barrels replaced the gun should bring $1500 or more.

    thanks for info imade a mistake gun is 20+ OLD IS IT BETTER TO HAVE A GUNSMITH REPAIR BARELLS AND KEEP GUN AS MADE OR REPLACE THEM? IF I REPLACE THEM WHERE AND APPX. HOW MUCH? THE BARELL IS 30 IN.LONG WITH FULL @IMP CHOKES . CAN I REPLACE THEM WITH 26 IN BARELL SKT. SKT .CHOKE?

    I would find a set of 26" barrels for the gun. It would probably be cheaper than trying to get the orginal barrels repaired. I have never bought barrels for an 101 so I'm not sure what they sell for.

    I have this exact gun. It has a coined receiver. To remove rust would damage engraving, IMHO. You'll need a real pro to refinish this one and that will not be cheap. In the condition described, $1000 is a serious reach. I see EXC condition guns going for $1300+. My guess is $500 to $800. Depends on the wood character and condition. If there is wood problems or it has been cut...real low $. Condition rules again.
