Hey,

I'm looking to purchase a Beretta 92...

What's the difference between the 92F and the 92FS

What's the difference between the "Preban" and "Postban" or is there such a thing

I would like the find something as close to the Military M9 itself

I am an avid Glock user... Can I expect the same or better ( if possible ) performance this non-Tupperware 9mm.

Thanks a lot.

Beretta just released a number of M-9 Pistols to wholesalers, so I think you can have your local dealer order you one. Or check out the auctions here on Gunbroker, you will probably find a M-9 for sale!
Preban refers to high capacity (over ten rounds) magazines. Most new guns come with no more than a ten round mag although some manufacturers are still shipping guns with hi cap mags, until they are all gone.

The FS is stainless and Beretta did make a limited number of M-9s. They come with a Military style holster and cleanig kit. They only come in blue finish, and I hear they are going fast.

    Good Luck.

As to performance, only you can be the judge of that. The majority of skilled shooters like the Beretta and consider it to be one of the very best combat pistols even if they preferred something else. I'd gladly buy another Beretta.

Rugster your mistaken. The FS does not mean that its stainless. The FS means that it has a safety/decocker rather than just the plain safety of the 92F.

The M9 is commercially known as the 92SB-F (The 92F). Its the exact same gun.

Beretta did make a limited edition M9, but all it was was a 92F with a holster and some fancy packaging and special serial #.

The 92FS was an improvement over the 92F. I don't know why you'd want to get a 92F over the FS. And the new Vertec is an improvement over the 92FS. Just my opinion but I'd get it.

I just wish I had a dollar for every gun I wanted, then I'd be a rich man.

I own 2 92FS pistols. My understanding is the the FS refers to a safety modification to prevent the slide from hitting the shooter in the event that the slide broke, an event that does occur on some 92F pistols.

Buy a used one! 92f or FS. The FS mod was done as a result of some military problems. What? We never abuse our equipment or do stupid things with it! I've gotten deals on 92F models in the past because people thought they might die shooting them. Then I shot the crap out of them and still sold it for more later. If you saw the M-9's that the US has given to some of the Carribean Islands, you would not hesitate to pound the crap out of these pistols. Their guns looked like they were dug up, but shot flawlessly. My advise is buy a used one. You won't ever be the first to shoot one anyway since they are fired at the factory. Don't pay higher for an Italian one either, that's just another scam of late. Semper Paratus!
