.45lc +p in S&W 25-5

Anybody here ever use any of the CorBon .45lc +p ammo in a newer S&W 25-5.

    I recall someone's saying...if you want a .45 Mag, get a Model 29, not a M25-5. The thickness of the metal in the bottom of the locking lug slot for each cvylinder is .015" if I recall correctly. I have seen 25-5's with the brass still stuck in one cylinder where the pressure blew out this small area.

    Have not used Cor-Bon .45 LC +P. Maybe someone else could help.

    I have three newer model 625's in 45 Colt and have fired Cor-Bon +P 265 and 300 grain ammo with no problem. I would not recommend shooting thousand of these hot rounds, but an occasional firing will not hurt the revolver. I called S&W and Cor-Bon and they both told me the same thing. I use the Cor-Bon as a hunting load and also to carry in the revolver when I am hiking in Wyoming for self defense.

    They will handle the loads fine SO LONG AS THEY ARE NOT A CONSTANT DIET. If Im wanted to shoot hundreds of them, I wouldn't. Used for hunting or personal protection, they should do fine since you are not going to use them constantly.

    The second admendment GUARANTEES the other nine and the Constitution!

    A letter from a Cor-Bon distributor in the current HANDGUNS magazine corrects an error in which someone said the 200-grain loading is +P. It is not and never has been. I don't know which loading sgt.207 is using.

    I was refering to what Cor-Bon calls their .45lc Magnum +p. It is a line of powerful hunting loads. For more info see http://www.corbon.com/hunting.html . Actually, Cor-Bon has gotten back to me and advised that I CAN shoot these loads in a 25-5 as long as it is in good shape and that I don't overdo it. Their 200 grain load is a defensive, combat load, and is no problem in the 25-5.

    Haven't used the Cor-Bon in the Smith but I have in the Ruger Blackhawks and Vaqueros with absolutely no problems.
    Even though it's not the gun you wanted info on,I hope this adds to your knowledge base.
