KEL-TEC P11

I BOUGHT ANOTHER P11 AND NOTICED ONE THING THAT WAS DIFFERENT THAN THE LAST ONE I HAVE. SLIDE STOP LEVER IS LIKE IMPOSSIBLE TO PRESS TO RELEASE SLIDE SO I HAVE TO PULL IT BACK TO DISENGAGE IT AND LET GO.
THIS WAS DEBATED ON ANOTHER TOPIC AND I WANT TO MAKE IT CLEAR AGAIN THAT I PRACTICE BOTH METHODS (USING LEVER OR PULLING BACK SLIDE TO RELEASE SLIDE), SO I DON'T WANT TO START ANOTHER DEBATE HERE.

DID ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCE THIS? I ALREADY CALLED KEL-TEC AND CLIFF (THEIR GUNSMITH?) TOLD ME THAT LEVER IS A "STOP" AND NOT A "RELEASE", SO I NEED TO PULL BACK SLIDE TO RELEASE IT????? (THEIR MANUAL SAYS YOU CAN DO BOTH) HE TOLD ME THAT AFTER AWHILE, ONCE IT'S A LITTLE MORE WORN, I WOULD BE ABLE TO PRESS LEVER TO RELEASE. BECAUSE I PRACTICE BOTH METHODS, IT DOES NOT BOTHER ME AT THE RANGE, HOWEVER, IF I AM IN THE HEAT OF BATTLE, I DON'T WANT TO TAKE THAT EXTRA SPLIT SECOND PULLING SLIDE BACK WHEN I RELOAD ANOTHER MAG. MY FIRST ONE WAS USED SO I CAN'T TELL IF IT WAS LIKE THAT WHEN IT WAS NEW. IS SOMEONE BLOWING SMOKE HERE?? I REALLY DON'T WANT TO SEND IT BACK BECAUSE THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE THAT WAY. WHAT'S THE QUICKEST FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. THANKS, GD

I have a Kel-Tec P11 that I bought used for a good price but I can't hit anything with it. I am getting groups of about two [2] feet at twenty-five yards from the bench. Is this normal? I am not the best pistol shot but I can get six [6] inch group with my Ruger 45. I have added a trigger shoe, P40 recoil springs, finger extension mag floorplate and a trigger stop but still can't hit anything with it. Any help?

If the notch in the slide is vertical, the slide stop wont have to cam
the slide back to release it. Careful filing of the notches' rear surface with a swiss file followed by polishing the mating surfaces of slide stop and notch is indicated. The notch should be square with no rounding of the lower corner.

I'd say try using a polishing grit to assist in its breaking in.

It actually bothers me about this change. It sounds like they may be starting to take shortcuts in their manufacturing and fitting to save money. I really hope my hunch about this is wrong.

I just wish I had a dollar for every gun I wanted, then I'd be a rich man.

As we all know, these are inexpensive pistols. One of the reasons is lack of fine finishing. The slide stop is a stamped piece. The edge sharpness varies from gun to gun. If your stop has a sharp edge, and the slide notch is a bit rough, or angled a bit off, it will be difficult to operate. Just polish the slide stop and the notch until it works the way you want. This is not rocket science. No need to send it anywhere. No need to call anyone. When a gun needs a little tuning, just do it.
