Hey guys,
At one of our civil war events we had some cci caps. They were made of brass and broke on impact. one of our guys got cut from a piece of it. Anyone else have any problems with them?? Also what kinda caps do you guys use?

If you can find them buy RWS caps.To me they are about the best you can get.

The RWS caps are about the best you can find. When you can find them. I have never seen them in anything other than #10 and #11 for percussion rifles, pistols and shotguns. I have never seen RWS in musket cap size. I have been "cut" and seen others "cut" while using musket caps. Part of the problem is caused by the nipple touch hole being shot out and too much of the pressure is being released out of this end. Try a new nipple. Another part of the problem is that the hammers face on most muskets is deep or should be deep. This is a safety feature to catch the small parts of the cap that may break off. This is an excellent example of why it is important to wear shooting glasses. Good luck and happy shooting.
