Springfield Sar 8

I have a chance to purchase a brand new in the box pre-ban Springfield SAR8. It has green furniture and has the pistol grip and flash suppressor. I can get this for $929. Is this as good a deal as I think it is? It is hard to spend this much on a gun when I know that for the same price I could get both the AK47 I have been eyeing AND a cheaper G3 clone for the same price. I think though that the Springfield is probably much better quality and since it is preban a better investment. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Eric

Is the gun you want the standrard. 308 or the tactical counter sniper?

Thanks for the info. How can I tell if it is truly a preban? Any markings on it to look at?

    Thanks,

if it has a threaded flash suppressor, chances are it is pre-ban. get the SN and call springfield, they will tell you production dates. I would rather have a pre-ban SAR than a post ban AK and 2 G3 clones. Get the real thing, one of the ones which were produced before all the stamped receiver, american part, thumbhole crap was made to satisfy the pantywaist's in our country.

A great rifle with a junk scope,....is junk.
