I was wondering what might be a good round about price for a ruger 44 mag carbine semi auto. It is the old model in about 95% condition it has a low sn# 64,0xx the ruger site shows it as being about a second year production carbine. It also has a weaver scope 4x of the same year production. Any insight would be helpful thanks.

if you have the one with 'derslayer"[i think thats right] it is worth about 100.00 more than the regular one. i have the second model without deer slayer on it but is tube fed as opposed to the third model that is rotary clip fed. really enjoy it. nice to carry in heavy woods and plenty of power up to 100 yrds. for whitail and for coydogs ect. carl

I dont have it yet,i saw it in a pawn shop today and thought i might get it if the price is right. It dosent say deerslayer,it looks EXACTLY like a 10/22,in fact i picked it up thinking it was.The magazine well looked weird, either the mag was missing or damaged.zzFrom the bottom i just saw a couple of grooves, kind of like an internal magazone or something.

I know what your talking about, I've shot one, it didn't use a clip though, it had a tube magazine. Kicked like a mule on steriods too. I'd get it, the pawn shop probably wants more than its worth, but its deffinatly a good investment considering its no longer produced, and not extremely overproduced, the only way it can go is up in value.

Ok here we go, found it in Gun Traider's Guide 24th edition.

Its a Ruger Model 44 Autoloading Carbine mfg 1961-86. Had a 4 shot tubular magazine, (had magazine release button mfg after 1976).
Aparently there were four different models made.

    Standard model $365
International Model w/Mannlicher style stock (Disc '71) $625
Sporter with MC stock (finger groves) (Disc '71) $525
    RS Carbine w/peep sight (Disc '78) $425

Sounds like a keeper to me.

    Hey,
He is just a kid who likes to post.
Unfortunately he seems to get his info from some magazines or books instead of shooting or competition.
You can see that he has leared some though.
Lee,Please quit putting quotes from books and magazines in your answers.

Sorry to run this topic into the ground but..

I bought the gun this morning, and was thinking of refinishing the stock and maybe having the metal redone.Does this gun have any collector value that might be compromised?Either way its going to be a shooter.

Did I give bad advice or wrong prices??? Sorry...

One of my paintball buddies dads has one that we shot. One that looks like a 10/22.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, I make mistakes all the time, and I won't get offended to be corrected. The only way I learn is if I make mistakes, and someone corrects me. Otherwise I don't know any better. Afterall I only human.

    Lee,
Don't worry about it. You're doing all right, some people forget that they were young once too. The only way you learn is by asking and by making mistakes. I think we all made a few in our lifetimes.
