    Boothroyd's Directory of English Gunmakers lists a Joseph Wood of York, Yorkshire, 1854-1867. But early English cartridge revolvers were often marked only with the retailer's name, and the actual manufacturer might be Tranter, Tipping & Lawden, or others...
