I have a "Firearms International" 98 commercial Mauser. Seems all original.Receiver is F.N. stamped "made in Belgium" commercial receiver. Hooded bolt with fully adjustable trigger. Walnut, hand checkered, cheekpiece, classic style stock. In .270 caliber. Has "FI" on buttplate and barrel. It is a sweet Mauser. It seems untouched!
? Made in the 60's??
? Is this pre-Interarms?(states on buttplate Washington D.C.)
? Is this a low line Browning knock off sort of?
Any info would be appreciated.
Its better than a Mark X in my opinion and with that receiver with the FN logo it must be worth more than a Mark X???
Great gun as is but would be a great start for a custom gun also!
Thanks ahead, sincerely Danny in Salt Lake City, Utah

The '67 Gun Digest lists a FN Supreme Rifle imported by Firearms International. This was a product of FN. FN also manufactured rifles for Browning to Brownings specifications. The FN Supreme rifles listed for $231, the Browning Safari in standard calibers listed for $199.50 to $217.50, and the Remington 700 BDL listed for $149.00.

    You have an excellent rifle.

Thanks Herschel!!! At least I have something I suspected. It looks like a Browning Safari 98 exactly. I am thinking Firearms Int. changed into Interarms in the 70's?? Thought it was a 60's gun. It has that lovely FN stamp on the receiver and "Made in Belgium" stamp you see on the Brownings! Its in really sweet condition also. The trigger is fully adjustable(3 ways), aluminum floorplate and hand checkering for sure.Nice classic stock with only a check piece. No added pad or spacers, etc. Plus a real nice caliber. It shoots great and would be even better with some bedding or floating done. In your opinion what figure shouldnt I go below if I sell it? Thanks again very much for the info!!!

Danny, I will probably not be able to help much on value. I would say it is the equivalent of the Browning Safari but will probably not bring as much as the Browning. Last month a friend who shared a gun show table with me sold a beautiful FN (not FI) that was not drilled and tapped for scope and had a Lyman 48 receiver sight. This was a factory made gun not built from barreled receiver. I believe it brought $425 and had been displayed for sale at 2 or 3 gunshows. It was in 95%+ condition, had a horn forearm tip and was a .270 Win. cal. That is the only comparable sale I know of.
