Savage Model 5 .22cal

Hi folks,
This is my first post here.
I have a Savage Model 5 .22. It is drilled for a peep sight. Two questions:
1. Was it originally sold with a peep sight? (It has an open rear sight mounted.)
2. What is the correct peep sight, assuming it came with one.

If anyone has any information about this rifle, or a site that deals with Savage history, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Terry

Mine is Model 5 only, so the holes for the peep sight were done by someone later, apparently.
Do you know what peep sight the 5s had? If I get a target sight for this one,I might as well get the closest one to original that I can.
    Thanks,
    Terry
