Well, I was under the apparently mistaken impression that a Colt Mustang field strips the same way a full size 1911 does. Can anybody out there give me a quick description of how to field strip the little mustang? Any help would be appreciated, thanks![:)]

It is very similar there just isnt a ring under the bbl. You just pull back the slide enough to push out the slide catch like on the full size, then push the slide all the way foward to take it off. The recoil spring is on an uncaptured guide rod so be careful not to loose it when pulling it out.

On some examples, the barrel is very difficult to remove from the slide. Not all but some.

If you can't get the barrel out of the slide, remove the extractor and then it will come out.

Also when you reassemble, push the ejector down JUST enough to clear the slide.
