To Bisley or not to Bisley?

I have a free Vaquero coming to me as a belated X-mas present. Any thoughts on whether to get a Bisley-Vaquero or regular Vaquero? I hear that the Bisleys don't ride up in your hand as the regulars have a tendancy to do.

I received a Ruger Bisley also for Christmas a year ago. I'm amazed at the control the grip gives me even with 250 gr .44 Mag loads.I had one of the first Ruger .44 Magnums and with the conventional grip the muzzle pointed straight up at the end of the shot.

The opinions are greatly appreciated. I believe I will go with the Bisley 45 L.C./45ACP. Thanks again

I bought the regular Vaquero in stainless steel, 4 5/8 barrel in .44 magnum. I like it fine but my buddy has the Bisley and his gun is much easier to cock and fire because of the different hammer spur. The Vaquero spur juts upward at a 45 degree angle while the Bisley kind of swoops down and back, then back up. Sort of a swan dive configuration. I don't have huge hands and it's a long stretch with my thumb to catch the top of my spur. With his gun it's right there in a natural position for your thumb.I've been wondering if the hammers interchange between the two guns?

About ten years ago I took the grip frame and trigger off of a .32 Bisley and swapped it onto a 5 1/2" .44 Super Blackhawk. It's been my favorite pistol ever since. It took a lot of fitting, but the Bisley hammer and the steel SBH grip frame are now on a Single-Six .22.
