I think you may be talking about the Calico. Had a 100 rd drum on the rear of it.Also came in a pistol version.

American 180 sounds right- the report I read some 20 years ago said it could send bullets nearly end to end (I'll give the reporter some room for exaggeration on that) The recoil of a 22 with that kind of cycle rate kind of boggles the mind thanks to JEENYES and TRIGGERSGHOST - and all the other that work to make this a wealth of knowledge!

Hey-That WAS the American 180, from the religious group in Utah. One was put into a police unit (Georgia??) and when used in combat--against two men in a getaway car who had just shot an officer--it just tore the rear of the auto up, penetrated and killed both persons.A lot of the rounds were found in the rear of the seats. Ammo was in a horizontal drum atop the rifle with ?? many rounds, and shot very fast.(I'm police retired, and remember this very well.)

I believe it was originally developed for use by prison guards--but after it was demonstrated destroying a brick wall, the authorities decided not to have it around the prison! Quite an impressive weapon, that's for sure.

Thanks again guys - with your help I found an intresting site on the gun, it at: http://american180.com/index.html My misteak, it runs 1500 to 1800 rounds per minute! also tended to go through body armor and about anything else it hit. - the reason they removed them from prison duty. They had dual and quad units that ran up to 6000 - from an ultralight plane! - well of to find prints now! thanks again!
