i have my gradfathers gun. all serial numbers match---4167 g---also has P.38 with ac and the no.31 under it. the magazine has the same number on it. any help,thanks

    The g in the serial no. makes it a French produced pistol in the post-war Mauser factory which was overrun by French troops and production was continued for them while keeping the German serial no. codes. Circa '45-'46 at which time production ended. The pistol should have a mark such as SVW45 or SVW46 this denotes the year of man. It should also have a "star proof" mark on the right side of the slide, but not necessarily. It will also have black plastic or stamped metal parkerized grips if it is all original. Value is hard to determine. Walthers and Mausers vary from $350-$700. I would consider that yours is actually the rarest of the 3 but since built under French admin. probably the least desirable.
