I own a browning auto 5. I figured out that it was made some time between 1903 and 1939. It is a "sweet 16". It would probably be considered in poor condition but it still shoots. As far as i can tell it is in original condition( no modifications or additions) I'm really curious as to how much it is worth as it sits. The barrel says "made in belgium"

Unless it is a real rag, in this part of the country (SC)it would probably bring between 300 and 500 dollars, maybe more.

The first Sweet 16 was mfg. 1950. Give me the first 3 digits of the serial number and I'll tell ya. Vent, solid, or plain barrel? Round knob on stock?

the serial # is: 19832. above it there is the # 8s. Yes there is a round knob at the bottom of the stock, end of the grip. Browning time line page stated the "sweet 16" was introduced in 1936. I'm sure mine wasn't made then but it falls into the "old" catagory. Its not a vented barrel. not sure what you mean by solid or plain thanx medic[This message has been edited by medic9950 (edited 01-06-2002).]
