i recently purchased sight un-seen a ruger red label pattern engraved 28 ga. shotgun. this shotgun "blue books" for over $2000. i was quite disappointed once i received it. i was expecting much more. can anyone out there "clue me in" as to what makes this shotgun so expensive? i admit i don't know much when it comes to engraving. thanks!

Just curious as I have a several Red Labels in 20 ga and 12 ga but no 28 ga. I bought the 2 engraved (factory ones) new and paid about 1,100. each before tax at a local gun shop. I think you can find them for a little less at places like "Bass Pro" in our area. Great guns but MSRP for the factory engraved are not $2,000.00 shotguns, closer to $1,350.00 or so. I have a 20 ga. (not engraved), in the sporting clays edition that shoots great for me. Shoot a couple hundred rounds at clay targets and you probably won't be so dissapointed with your purchase. Good Luck
