Persian Mauser

I have a Model 98 Persian Mauser that I need some information on. Unlike the ones that I have seen on the auction sites, it has a short barrel (about 19 inches) and a turned down bolt handle. It looks like it is all original and in about 99% condition. Numbers match as far as I can tell (all markings are in Farsi) including the stock. The sling attachments are along the side of the rifle instead of along the bottom. Can someone tell me something about this rifle and about what it is worth? Thanks!

In the recent post on the custom Mauser with engraving, nononsense pointed out that the left receiver wall had Farsi writing on it. I am embarrassed that I missed that since I have one of those Mausers in my collection. I acquired it some years ago shortly after they appeared on the surplus market. When were these Mausers produced and which factories made them. And since the writing is in the usual place for the manufacturer's markings (and I don't read Farsi!), I wonder if it's the manufacturer's name written in Farsi.

My book prices one in 95% at $325, but they are more like $225. They were german made, most being reconditioned and rebuilt 98k.

Thanks for the replies.I'll keep your offer in mind, Saxon. I'll be sure to call you when I try to sell this thing! I got kind of excited when I saw a full length version go for about $500 on this auction site a short while back. But, now I see others going for closer to the $300 mark.BTW, Saxon Pig, your comment on solvent disposal in the cosmoline thread was correct in most cases.
