Interesting SKS

I ran across an interesting Russian SKS at a local dealer. It had all matching numbers, a beautiful dark-brown laminate stock, perfect bore and most interesting of all, a side-mounted scope. The mount was one of those beefy, tall Russian jobs with a quick release device. I've seen these on AK's. Extremely solid and professionally done. The scope was Russian, extremely long with a strange-looking rubber eye cap and a neat reticle that looked like it doubled as a range finder. Nice! The scope sits extremely high, but totally sweet looking. Not sure how I'll shoot with the scope so high, but I've never seen this kind of mount on an SKS. He was asking $400. Is this a good deal?

The Russian SKS goes for apprx. $150. The scope sounds like a PSO-1 $125. If the mount is the KV-2 Yugo mil-spec, and it sounds like it since it was not designed for this rifle, it goes retail for $155. Price is about right. Try www.sksman.com to compare and find out exactly what you have.I've just checked out his price on a Yugo SKS and he is about $125 higher than others I have seen.[This message has been edited by oneshy (edited 01-09-2002).]

Oneshy, if you've got access to Russian SKS's at $150, I and a lot of others would like to know where. $250-325 is more the going rate. Back in 1995-1996 $150 was about right, but not lately that I've seen.
