Does anyone have knowledge about the "Prise Machine Gun" company? I have an old double-barrel shotgun made by them with a patent date of June 30, 1883.

Look on the barrel flats and I think you'll find an "ELG" proof stamped there. The word "machine" was used to indicate that the gun was made on some sort of assembly line and that was supposed to be an indication of quality. If I'm correct about the proofs, then you have a cheap Belgian import. Value of the piece as a gun is almost nothing. Value as a decoration might run somewhere in the $200.00 range.
