Anyone know how much gain in velocity for standard and +P loadings when going from a 2" to a 3" 38 special barrel?

This question used to be asked a lot 20 yrs. or so ago-back when the FBI first adopted the 3in. S&W M13. I can't recall the exact numbers, but I do remember the 3in. had a muzzle velocity just slightly lower than the 4in. barrel-but significantly higher than the 2in.The gun was a .357 Mag, but agents I knew at the time were issued Winchester .38 Spl+P 158gr LSWC HP's for duty use. This round is still recignized as one of the best .38 Spl defensive loads you can get.[This message has been edited by Txs (edited 02-14-2002).]
