What would be a reasonable price to pay for a preban Federal Ordnance 7.62 NATO (M14/M1A) unfired, new/100%?

I have a federal Ordnance M1a/M14 and have heard a lot about the danger/concerns with them. I don't have any negative experience and have researched them extensively. The value is between $850.00 and $1100.00

There are 2 different categories of Fed Ord M14 clones. The early ones had a poorly made, but generally serviceable, receiver, and the rest of the parts were USGI. I would expect to pay $700-800 for one of these.Later ones had all crudely made Chinese parts, including a mock flash suppressor. I don't believe that they are worth owning, at any price.Neal

I STILL like mine, Neal. But they are in the 2XXX serial no. range.

I have one, no problems, got it thoroughly checked out by competent gunsmiths. Sometimes I think some bad press is generated by those who paid a lot more for their SA - anecdotal stories perhaps?
