Need Mauser C96 Broomhandle Help

Recently bought a Broomhandle 7.63. Have tried various strippers, but all seem too "narrow" to fit in the receiver slots and won't keep bolt back. Is there a "correct" stripper, how do I ID it, and where do I find it?**TIA**

Yes, there is a correct stripper, and probably more than one make avaiable. I have a couple that work fine and are obviously Chinese in origin, as evidenced by the writing on them. I believe that I got them from SARCO about 5 years ago. You'll probably have to phone or e-mail some of the larger suppliers and explain the problem to assure that they send you the right item.

I do appreciate the reply, because in all honesty I thought I was going nuts.

The ones I have are marked DWM whatever that means & they are all crome colored. Before I found these I make a SKS strip clipwork (sort of). Not well & it took some workbut I could eventually load the pistol.Sorry but the place I found mine is out of bussiness.Just looked at the auction site. There isone selling two clips w/picture & two othersselling ammo w/clips. [This message has been edited by gruntled (edited 02-16-2002).]

Thanks! Actually, I had bought some from two different sellers here, and they didn't work after being advertised as being for the Broomhandle. (One gave me a refund, the other ignored my emails.) That was why I had thought I was off my rocker, figuring they would know better than I. This seems toi be not the case. Thanks for the tip about Numrich, I dunno why I didn't think to look there first.

Yeah, thought something was funny.I have a "Red Nine" 9mm C-96,and a Waffenfabrik Oberndorf Neckar.30 Mauser, and both of mine use the same stripper-both the Kraut and Chinese versions.Heck, you can even use the 8 rounders they used on the 6-shot Bolos.

You know, I think I'll put something in my site about that, maybe take some macro shots of the end of the strippers so the next guy (or gal) doesn't have to go through this.I also wanted to ask if (assuming the gun's been checked by a gunsmith) it was possible to use 7.62 X 25 ammo in the Broomhandles.

The case for the 7.62X25 & the 7.63X25 are the same. What is not the same are the loadings. Most people say it is OK. The people that rebarreled mine (Briklee TradingAKA Fedarms) reworked very large numbers of these guns and they very strongly recommendedagainst it. The bolt stop on mine was crystallized & had to be replaced. Think of where the bolt would go under a heavy load if the bolt stop shattered.

You mean, what's the last thing that went through the shooter's mind? First thing I did was to replace the bolt stop, even before relining. Next comes all new springs... next comes re-finishing, then a once-over by the gunsmith. Then we go play.Hey, between the time I started this thread and now a package from one of the sellers here...TROPI.. showed up. It contained strippers that fit! And they're marked DWM on the back.I'm grateful to you all for the help, because good help it was. If you can suggest an ammo source in parting I'd be even more grateful. (I already tried Old Western Scrounger). Many thanks, again.[This message has been edited by Terv (edited 02-16-2002).]

Currently being made by Fiocchi, listed as 7.63 Mauser. It's likely anyone that sells this brand can special order it & sometimes you can find it on the shelf.
