What about the Mosin-Nagant?

I keep seeing these M-44 Mosins for sale in magazines, they are certianly cheap enough, they look good(at least in the picture). I was wondering if anyone out there has had any experience with these rifles. Also the Russian issue sniper scopes, the ones with the rangefinder and the rubber eye piece. I'd like to know if these a worth the $. Thanks

The M-44 is a great little gun, fun to shoot, fairly accurate, and worth every penny. You may need to degrease them, but otherwise, get one while they are cheap.

M-44; a primo little rifle, can't beat the prices, ammo cheap too. Buy one, you won't be sorry. I'm sure you've blown a hundred bucks before and had nothing to show.

I agree with 30-cal. Who's bright idea was it to put a metal plate on the end of the stock??? Great gun, nonetheless, though.-Marcus

They make a pretty good deer gun if you use the hollow point bullets. You can beat the brush and briars out of the way with them and not worry about damage to your gun. Can also be used to pry open a barb wire fence so you can crawl through, unloaded of course.

How does the performance of the 7.62x54mm round stack up to, say, the 7.62mm NATO round?
