You have to describe the markings on the pistol and also markings inside the holster and condition of finish, bore and leather.Holsters alone are going well over $100.Does it have the little screwdriver/loading tool in a small pouch in the holster and is it marked?

I Haven't Seen The Gun In About A Year. I Remember All Markings As Nazi Bird With Wings. Holster Has Small Pouch But No Screw Driver.

The value is probably in the $10-$1,000 range.Without photos, it's unlikely that we can help you narrow it down much. Your best bet is to find a local dealer or collector who specializes in Lugers.Neal

Is There Anyone Online That Could Give Me An Idea If I Was To Send Email Photos? Like I Said This Was An Inheritance On Something I Know Nothing About. Is This Thing Even Legal To Have?

It's legal. There are many variations that add value, like serial no. and manufacturer. Most I have seen at auction go for $700-$1000. Try the Luger home page at www.gunsworld.com to ascertain exactly what you have. I know that the artillery models go for well over $1000.

Johnny, not to sound to sentimental here, but if it was my granddads Luger, I would hang on to it. I have my father's Walther from the war, and would not sell it. If you are not a shooter or collector, remember that it will only appreciate with time if well maintained, and you can always sell it, but never really replace it once sold.

Johnny, since you can send photos of the gun, you may want to ask the guys on the Luger Collectors forum at www.gunandknife.com to help you identify and describe it exactly. The Gunbroker auction is a good place to sell guns online, but your description had better be precise. You've got to be able to say, for example, that the bore is bright and shiny and there is no corrosion on the breech face. You have to know if the finish is original or re-done, and the exact % of finish remaining; "great looking" won't cut it. You must be able to say, for example, that it has 98% of the original finish, knowing that if the buyer determines that it has only 95%, it's going to be returned to you. Since UPS next day air costs > $25 each way, you don't want to have to absorb 2-way shipping charges.
