Why are all these threads locked down? I wanted to offer a little information to one of the poster's but it seems that as a topic reaches 10, or so, it gets locked. The regulars get to talk, but not the people that are limited by their jobs to a day or two a week. Guess I will shut up and go back to the General discussion board where i can get a word in edgewise.

With out trying to start any name calling or word fights and since I am relatively new to this forum who appointed Capt. Kirk the God Almightly and why does he determine the number of responses on a thread and limit them to ten? I just logged on this evening and was reading the cartridge debate and wanted to comment and the thread was closed. Go figure.

Cptn. Kirk reasons, probably correctly, that after ten responses the question is pretty well answered, or enough opinions have been offered to give a basis for a decision. Even at ten the threads tend to degenerate into conversations, or vear off topic. Don't quit though, your contributions are likely to be valuable!

I understand following rules, but who's rules are these? Obviously not gunbroker's, because the post are not limited on the other forums. If a restriction is enforced, then it just allows for the total number of posts (new topics) to be inflated.Guess that makes it look like they have more business to handle, by inflating the numbers.

Each forum has its own moderator and how long a thread remains open is their prerogative. ATE is moderated by captkirk, so he decides how long a thread will be, usually 10 or so.I think you'll agree that captkirk only uses his power for good.

I have to copmplain also. There have been several times when very informative threads and threads with great debates have been poofed. I have looked back at them for reference to find that 3 dys later they are gone. What gives? And YES, I have read the "Where has my post one" section.

And then we can go on and on forever on important stuff like "smoking jackets" because it's in the clique.

I don't mean threads like that, but I mean ones with questions that come up frequently, like which is the best 9mm, what's the difference between SKS's, which mags are good bad, which is best for concealed carry etc.I see the same questions come up over and over with the same answers. If someone want s new info, they can always post a new thread

I guess what bothers me most, is the fact, like today, the good posts are filled up and will be locked. If I had of been on the road and came in for the weekend, think of the posts I miss. Ten goes in a hurry. But the bottom line is, it is their site, and if we don't like it, then we can take our marbles and go home.
